Antique Trench Art 37x85 Souvenir Morocco Riff French Conflict North Africa 1925

We offer for your consideration these two Trench Art souvenirs.
These two pieces of Trench Art came out of North Africa, Morocco.
After the first world war, Spain and France still held control of Morocco, and the tribal lands of the indigenous Berber people of the Rif mountains. The Rif tried to drive the occupying  forces out of their lands in a conflict that lasted from 1920 to 1927.
These pieces were created out of that conflict.
If you are a collector of Trench Art, these are great pieces because of their traceable history. The inscription reads "Souvenir Du Riff 1925-26
The artisan utilized these French small artillery  37 x 87 mm shells to create them.
The gun that these shells were used in, saw service in World War 1, but fell out of regular use after the war. These weapons found their way to North Africa, and many were captured by the Berbers and used against Spanish and French forces.
These casing are approximately 4 3/4 in. tall, approximately 1 1/2 in. in diameter, and weigh approximately 5.5 pounds each.
These will make very nice additions to any Trench art collection.
